Traditional Fly Fishing
Western American Fly Fishermen and woman are unique among fishing types in the world. The clothing, rode types, and species targeted are special. The process of fishing a small mountain river for the voracious cutthroat trout, or the steady brook trout are iconic the world over. Since the early 1900s men and woman have climbed the high peaks of the Sierra Nevada’s and the Rockies to locate the wild populations of trout (Brown 2015). This has led to a culture of sustainability, preservation, and reverence for the wildlands they utilize.
The gear they use must be durable and warm for the rough terrain. The respect for other fishermen and woman is shown by the code of ethical pursuit that all are culturally encouraged to follow. And finally, the methodology of fishing, the gentle brushing of the fly over the water. All are about the fish and the love of them.
